Best Practice Summary
The inclusive school strives for the greatest possible involvement of all actors in its life. School management, faculty, assistants, counsellors, pupils, their parents and carers - they are all important partners in education and upbringing. The basis of this comprehensive partnership is mutual trust and belief in a common goal - the maximum development of the educational potential and personality of each individual student. Mutual trust and alignment of common goals need to be built systematically.
Building connections and implementing measures to create positive relationships and environments is not easy. Initial uncertainty, mistrust or fear are natural reactions that can be overcome or at least significantly alleviated by the systematic efforts of school staff.
In the Summary, we build upon the best practice of schools in the Czech Republic. We try to convey to you their experiences, the challenges they faced and the ways in which they dealt with them. They shared with us good practices, interesting ideas, tips for specific activities, they talked about what measures worked for them and what they consider important about them. In the Summary, we
- introduce best practice,
- suggest what you can do at your school and how,
- what to watch out for,
- and what not to forget.
A school which manages to build a positive atmosphere thus provides a positive and pleasant environment in which all actors feel good and are themselves interested in participating in the life of the school.
